Receiver's general and individual ledger (credit system), 1814-1831.

Entries contain balanced accounts with individual land purchasers (opened August 10, 1814 - July 4, 1831 under the land purchase credit system) as well as balanced accounts arranged under the following headings: cash and evidence of confirmed claims (later cash and stock account); public land sales; discount accounts; forfeiture accounts; commission account; interest account; deposit accounts; and debit to the federal government. Entries variously include disbursement or receipt date and amount; payee or payer; and disbursement cause (e.g., salaries; commissions; printing; advertising; stationery) or receipt (i.e., initial payment toward land purchase; subsequent payments of installments and interest). When the credit system ended (July 1, 1820), individual accounts were opened only for purchasers assumming unpaid balances from original owners.
